If I close my eyes and listen
I can hear every sound I’ve ever heard
I need never open my eyes again
this is the soundscape of my life
and I have heard it all before.
It is music to my soul
a siren call that keeps me listening
a lullaby like caring hands caressing my heart
slowly squeezing to quell the restless beat
and I surrender to the music.
